Fraternal Order of Police Cops & Kids
The Fraternal Order of Police's Cops and Kids program is purposefully crafted to foster strong connections between our local lodges and the community they serve. Through this initiative, officers accompany underprivileged children on shopping excursions, ensuring they have access to Christmas presents and essential school supplies. These heartfelt gestures effectively convey to these young individuals that the police in their neighborhood are not just guardians but also caring allies who are ever ready to offer their support. Providing a gift to a child who might not otherwise receive one, or equipping them with the tools needed to thrive academically, has the potential to create a profound and enduring impact.

How Children are Selected
Participants are selected through Gainesville City Public Schools, Hall County Public Schools, and other organizations throughout the community. The children who participate are given an allotted sum of money (determined by the amount of donations received and number of families that apply) and encouraged to shop for gifts they want for Christmas. However, officers who take part note that many of the children prefer to use the opportunity to shop for gifts for other family members, or needed items such as a warmer coat or blanket. It is truly heartwarming to see children who have so little acting so unselfishly and helping others.
The Lodge’s Cops & Kids Christmas Program also fosters positive interactions between law enforcement officers and children. Some children who come from underprivileged homes have only negative perceptions of officers. This positive, fun event allows them to interact directly with members and see that their local law enforcement officers are caring, friendly people who want to help them.
Duck Derby
Each year, the Boys & Girls Club graciously hosts this vibrant event and extends a warm invitation for our participation. With enthusiasm, we set up our booth, offering delectable popcorn and cotton candy to all attendees. Additionally, we take joy in gifting cinch sacks to the children, complete with educational books and engaging toys.
This event serves as an ideal platform to foster positive interactions between the youth and law enforcement. It's a chance for us to bridge gaps, build trust, and cultivate meaningful connections with the younger generation. By engaging in these uplifting exchanges, we not only contribute to the enjoyment of the event but also to the nurturing of a harmonious relationship between our officers and the community we proudly serve.
National Police Week, running from May 12 - 18, is a time of honor, remembrance, and solidarity. It provides a meaningful opportunity for law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to come together and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
In a heartwarming collaboration, the Gainesville Hall County Fraternal Order of Police is teaming up with King of Pops to commemorate National Police Week alongside Fair Street Elementary's Field Day! During the event, the FOP will be distributing delicious King of Pops treats to the children of Fair Street Elementary as an end-of-year treat.
The Back-to-School season can be particularly challenging, especially for our children in underserved communities who may face additional obstacles. It's crucial that every child has the chance to embark on the new school year fully equipped and ready for success. That's why our dedicated officers step in to make a meaningful difference by accompanying these young students on a special back-to-school shopping experience.

During these outings, our officers generously provide support by purchasing essential items such as shoes, socks, book bags, and all the necessary school supplies. Beyond merely fulfilling material needs, this initiative is about empowering these children with the tools and confidence they need to excel academically and beyond. By investing in their education and well-being, we're not only helping them thrive in the classroom but also laying the foundation for a brighter future. Police Officer Appreciation Picnic
Our exclusive Police Officer Appreciation Picnic stands out as our sole program tailored specifically for law enforcement personnel. Designed with the intention of offering a sanctuary where our members can unwind in a secure environment, it serves as a catalyst for fostering camaraderie among them. Moreover, it provides an invaluable platform for the families of officers to forge connections, share experiences, and celebrate both trials and triumphs unique to law enforcement life.

In line with our commitment to bolstering our members' welfare, our foundation is extending its support further. We will be equipping the children of our members with all the essential school supplies necessary for a successful academic year. By alleviating the financial strain inherent in public service salaries, we aim to fortify the support system for our valued members.
Clermont Days
Each year, our lodge receives a special invitation from the esteemed town council members of Clermont to partake in their community event. At this gathering, we proudly set up a vibrant booth, offering delightful treats of popcorn and cotton candy to all the attending citizens. Additionally, we extend a thoughtful gesture to the children by providing them with cinch sacs, generously filled with the same contents as those distributed during the beloved Duck Derby.
Given the grand scale of this event compared to the Duck Derby, our participation requires a more substantial budget allocation. However, we recognize that the magnitude of this occasion presents enormous opportunities for fostering positive interactions within the community. It's a chance for us to not only provide joy through tasty treats and thoughtful gifts but also to engage in meaningful exchanges that strengthen the bonds between our lodge and the residents of Clermont.
By actively participating in events like this, we reaffirm our commitment to serving the community and creating lasting connections that contribute to the overall well-being and cohesion of our town.
Helping Make Thanksgiving Happen
Thanksgiving holds profound significance, symbolizing unity and gratitude as families come together to share a meal. Recognizing the importance of this tradition, our dedicated members actively seek out individuals and families in our community who may be facing challenges in securing their Thanksgiving feast.
Through their on-duty interactions and deep connection with the community, our members identify those in need and swiftly take action. Partnering with local grocery stores, we work tirelessly to ensure that no one goes without the opportunity to partake in this sacred holiday celebration. With compassion and generosity, we provide wholesome Thanksgiving meals to numerous families, spreading joy and warmth throughout our community.
